Plastic Surgery Societies: Membership Matters
Our doctors are members of the 2 most prominent plastic surgery societies, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Each of these organizations requires members to be accomplished plastic surgeons committed to high standards and quality care. Dr. W. Grant Stevens
Dr. Grant Stevens is the Medical Director of Marina Plastic Surgery Associates Medical Corporation in Marina del Rey. He specializes in cosmetic plastic surgery and has been named one of America's Best Physicians in "The Guide to Top Doctors." Dr. Stevens was nominated by his colleagues which makes this recognition especially prestigious and rewarding. He is an active member at Daniel Freeman Marina Hospital where he is the Past Chairman of The Department of Surgery, the past Chairman of the Liposuction Committee, and the past Co-Director of The Breast Center. He is also on staff at St. John's Medical Center and The Marina Outpatient Surgery Center.
Dr. Stevens graduated with honors from Washington University Medical School in St. Louis where he was awarded the Senior Prize in Surgery. He completed his general surgery training at Harbor UCLA Medical Center, then returned to Washington University-Barnes Hospital where he completed a Fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is a Board Certified Diplomate of The American Board of Plastic Surgery and a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons and The International College of Surgeons. He was appointed by the governor to The Medical Board of California Medical Quality Review Board, and is on the Plastic Surgery Faculty at UCLA as well as USC. Dr. Stevens has been an invited visiting professor at Loma Linda University, The University of Switzerland, The University of Denmark, and The University of Southern California.
Dr. Stevens has authored numerous publications that have appeared in professional journals. He has also lectured at international, national and regional meetings with presentations to such groups as The American Association of Plastic Surgeons, The Swiss Plastic Surgery Society, The Danish Plastic Surgery Society, The Plastic Surgery Research Council, The American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and The California Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Wounds: A Compendium of Current Research and Practice, a quarterly journal for surgeons, as well as Cosmetic Plastic Surgery Times and Plastic Surgery Products. He has been interviewed for articles that have appeared in USA Today, People Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Beauty, Forbes, Glamour, Cosmetic Plastic Surgery Times, Business Week, Men's Fitness, LA Times Magazine, Longevity, Cooking Light, Discovery and numerous newspapers. His television appearances have included CNN, Discovery, MSNBC, The Learning Channel, Sonia Live, Leeza, CBS News, 24 Hours, Extra, Hard Copy, American Journal, Entertainment Tonight, Inside Edition, Lifetime - New Attitudes, PBS Nightly Business Report and many other TV and radio interviews.
Dr. Stevens is a member of many medical societies including The American Society of Plastic Surgeons, The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, The International College of Surgeons, The American College of Surgeons, and The American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. He is the past chairman of The California Medical Association Advisory Panel on Plastic Surgery. Dr. Stevens received the California State Assembly and California State Senate Certificate of Recognition. He has received the Special Congressional Certificate of Recognition and The Distinguished Service Citation from The Medical Board of California.

Dr. Michelle Spring
Dr. Michelle Spring is a board-certified diplomate of The American Board of Plastic Surgery specializing in cosmetic surgery in Los Angeles. After completing an American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery fellowship with Dr. Stevens and an Integrated Plastic Surgery residency at University of Wisconsin, Madison, Dr. Spring practiced in Wisconsin as faculty and helped train residents in reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery.
Prior to joining the team at Marina Plastic Surgery, Dr. Spring traveled for one year to Bangladesh, Bolivia, China, Ecuador, India, Peru, Taiwan and Vietnam, where she used her surgical skills and compassion to provide humanitarian relief as an Interplast Webster Fellow. She provided free reconstructive plastic surgery for children and adults with cleft palates, cleft lips, disfiguring burns and hand deformities. She then practiced in Sandpoint and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho before returning to Southern California.

Dr. David Stoker
Dr. David Stoker is a board certified Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery specializing in cosmetic surgery. He was chosen by The New York Times, in the The New York Times Style Magazine, as one of the top cosmetic plastic surgeons in the nation with special mention of his experience in liposuction, tummy tucks and breast surgery. Dr. Stoker teaches the course on liposuction and body contouring for his colleagues at the annual meetings of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He is also a member of the clinical faculty of the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. For his expertise in cosmetic surgery, he has been featured on the Today show, Dr. Phil, People Magazine, The Learning Channel, Discovery Health channel, Access Hollywood, Women's Entertainment Network and Style Network.
Dr. Stoker graduated with honors from Stanford University where he majored in biology and political science. At Stanford he was awarded the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Major Grant for Undergraduate Research. Dr. Stoker studied medicine at the University of California at San Francisco where he graduated at the top of his class as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. During medical school Dr. Stoker was actively involved in plastic surgery research and was awarded a first place prize by the Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation.
Dr. Stoker did his residency in General Surgery at the New York University Medical Center with Department Chairman Frank C. Spencer, M.D. There he received the British Journal of Surgery Award for the highest score in the department on the National In-Service Training Exam. Dr. Stoker completed his residency in Plastic Surgery at the prestigious Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery at the NYU School of Medicine. He was trained in plastic surgery by Drs. Joseph McCarthy, Gerald Pitman, Sherrell Aston, Daniel Baker, and the distinguished faculty of the Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital.
Dr. Stoker has authored over a dozen publications on state of the art cosmetic surgery topics. These include distinguished plastic surgery journal articles on cosmetic facial, breast and body contouring procedures. It also includes authoring the chapters, "Liposuction and Body Contouring" and "Pure Aspirative Lipoplasty" in two of the premier textbooks on plastic surgery. Dr. Stoker has been nationally recognized for his research in power-assisted liposuction and the anatomy of the facial nerve as it relates to facelifts. Dr. Stoker's pioneering research with power-assisted liposuction, the safest and most effective lipoplasty method available, contributed to a major advance in the field of body contouring. Dr. Stoker is one of a handful of surgeons honored by being chosen by two leading breast implant manufacturers to be a clinical investigator for the newest generation of silicone gel breast implants. These cohesive gel implants, otherwise referred to as gummy bear implants, are form stable and less likely to leak or ripple.
